Subscribe to NEUTRALPATH newsletter, a biannual update on our journey towards a co-designed climate-neutral future for EU citizens
This issue explores how climate-neutral districts can become more than technical demonstrators, acting as inclusive, transformative and resilient urban spaces that respond to the needs of citizens and local communities. Through our latest podcast episode and journalistic article, we look at how districts can join forces for decarbonisation and how clean, energy-positive solutions can also act as social shields.
This edition also brings updates from the NEUTRALPATH General Assembly in Vantaa, where project partners reviewed progress and advanced the work of pilot and follow cities, strengthening the connection between technical solutions, governance approaches and citizen engagement.
A key highlight of this issue is the new NEUTRALPATH policy brief on strengthening EU Heating & Cooling, reflecting on how cities can turn European heating and cooling ambitions into practical local action, while addressing affordability, financing, regulatory uncertainty, data gaps and local capacity.
We also spotlight Dresden, positioning itself as a front-runner for a smart and climate-neutral Europe, alongside new resources reinforcing the NEUTRALPATH vision, including the Smart Cities Marketplace booklet and reflections from the Cities Mission Conference 2026.
Finally, we recap past events, including a public webinar on Ghent’s PCED and a conference on investment-readiness in Rome, and present upcoming opportunities to engage with NEUTRALPATH and its growing community of cities.
