CIRCE joined CharIN Testival EUROPE 2025 to test next-gen EV charging technologies, including V2G. The project is now preparing a V2G-enabled charger in Zaragoza to boost solar self-consumption and support more adaptive urban energy systems.
In the last week of November, CIRCE took part in CharIN Testival EUROPE 2025 at TechnoPark MotorLand (Alcañiz), one of the key international meet-ups where car manufacturers and charging-infrastructure providers put emerging charging technologies through their paces, from bidirectional charging (V2G) to MCS ultra-fast charging.
At the event, CIRCE worked hands-on with the new ISO 15118-20 standard, running interoperability and cybersecurity tests to ensure that vehicles and chargers can “speak” to each other safely and reliably. These tests are a crucial step toward scaling up V2G services and making tomorrow’s smart-charging networks work seamlessly across different brands and systems.
Back home in the Zaragoza positive, clean and neutral energy district, CIRCE is preparing to deploy a V2G-enabled charging point connected directly to the district’s photovoltaic installation. Once operational, it will allow electric vehicles to store excess solar power during high-production hours and feed it back to the district when demand rises, boosting self-consumption, easing the load on the grid and improving overall energy efficiency.
With this work, CIRCE is helping bring advanced charging technologies closer to real-world deployment and showing how V2G can support more flexible, decarbonsed and reliable urban energy systems.
