Cecilia Sanz Montalvillo, coordinator of NEUTRALPATH, will join two expert sessions at ATELIER final conference in Bilbao
NEUTRALPATH will participate in the ATELIER Final Conference “From Lighthouse Pilots to Legacy: Scaling Positive Energy Districts Across Europe”. Organized in Bilbao (ES), on 11 and 12 March 2026. The event brings together cities, industry leaders, researchers, and EU-funded initiatives working to advance positive energy districts (PEDs) as a key solution for climate-neutral urban development. As a fellow EU-funded project focused on climate-neutral neighbourhoods, NEUTRALPATH will contribute to discussions on knowledge sharing and strategies to accelerate PED deployment across Europe.
During the conference, Cecilia Sanz Montalvillo (CARTIF), coordinator of the NEUTRALPATH project, will participate in two discussion sessions addressing key challenges for PED expansion in Europe. In the breakout session “How can policy makers support PED deployment?”, moderated by Francisco Rodriguez Perez-Curiel (Tecnalia), she will join speakers including Nika Kotovica (Riga), Nora Mendoza (San Sebastian), and Pedro Otazua (Iberdrola) to discuss the role of policy frameworks and governance in enabling district-level energy transformation. Cecilia will also contribute to the session “Scaling PEDs: Replication Pathways and Roadmaps,” moderated by Carla Rodriguez Alonso (CARTIF), together with representatives from Bratislava, Budapest and Matosinhos cities and organizations such as AIT, Tecnalia, TELUR.
The ATELIER project is a Horizon 2020 initiative that works with Lighthouse Cities Amsterdam and Bilbao, together with a network of follower cities, to develop roadmaps for upscaling solutions for European positive cities. Through dedicated PED Innovation Ateliers, ATELIER aims to demonstrate how the local innovation ecosystems can accelerate the transition toward climate neutrality, putting citizens at the centre of the implementation of smart solutions.
