On 24 September 2025, from 10:30 to 11:30, NEUTRALPATH held an online training session on Business Models as part of its capacity building programme.
The session aimed to give public authorities practical knowledge and hands-on insights to help them develop and implement successful Positive Clean Energy Districts (PCEDs).
The training focused on concrete strategies and lessons learned for using innovative financing instruments to make PCED projects financially viable and sustainable. Participants explored different approaches, such as public-private partnerships, energy-as-a-service models, and community ownership schemes and discussed how these can be adapted to local regulations, financial contexts, and stakeholder needs.
Philippe Fournand, a financing expert from the Scalable Cities initiative and contributor to the sister project ASCEND, shared his expertise and real-world examples of successful business models.
The session also gave NEUTRALPATH cities the chance to exchange experiences and challenges, learning from each other how to create scalable solutions that ensure the long-term operation of PCEDs.
