How are European cities turning sustainability goals into action? In the latest joint webinar hosted by the NEUTRALPATH and ASCEND projects, urban mobility experts and municipal representatives showcased practical approaches to sustainable transport within the framework of Positive and Clean Energy Districts (PCEDs).
Zaragoza, Spain, presented its comprehensive Mobility Plan through CIRCE (Felipe del Busto) highlighting integrated solutions such as bike mobility, protected lanes, bike-sharing schemes, secure parking infrastructure, and detailed implementation timelines.
From Munich, Germany, the municipality (Annika Paul and Kerstin Swoboda) introduced the city’s innovative approach to multimodal logistics hubs, designed to shift freight and parcel distribution from traditional trucks to cargo bikes for last-mile delivery. Also the developments in Munich’s e-charging infrastructure.
These examples not only demonstrate urban strategies but also support the wider ambitions of the EU Cities Mission and the drive towards climate neutrality by 2030.
The session brought together sustainability practitioners and city representatives from Munich, Zaragoza, Budapest, Vantaa, and Porto, highlighting the importance of cross-city collaboration. The discussion was moderated by representatives from Eurocities and Energy Cities.
This session is part of the ongoing collaboration between NEUTRALPATH and ASCEND, contributing to a growing Community of Practice for Positive and Clean Energy Districts (PCEDs). The initiative aims to foster knowledge exchange, strengthen synergies, and inspire impactful action toward sustainable urban transformation across European cities.
