As two years have passed since the launch of NEUTRALPATH, the project is now initiating dissemination and collaboration efforts with other European cities that are interested in engaging with the project. Specifically, the invitation is for medium, small, and very small cities located in peripheral regions that have not yet been involved in other Horizon Europe smart city projects, and that lack access to the usual energy transition frameworks.
The City Alliances are dedicated to knowledge sharing and disseminating results to support the replication and scaling up of both technological and non-technological elements of Positive and Clean Energy Districts (PCEDs). They will also focus on transversal aspects such as governance, citizen participation, and co-design in cities and regions, drawing from the experiences of Zaragoza, Dresden, Ghent, Istanbul, and Vantaa. The goal is to connect cities and drive sustainable transformation.
Stefania Mascolo, Project Coordinator at Eurocities, explains that “the City Alliances will leverage the organization’s 200-member network across different regions, in collaboration with the Neutralpath network, as well as the NetZero Cities mission and the Covenant of Mayors”.
Benefits for Cities Joining the Network:
- Participation in webinars with experts and urban practitioners.
- Access to workshops addressing a variety of urban challenges.
- Opportunities to join site visits and in-person meetings to learn from the successful implementation of PCEDs and collaborate with other cities across Europe (optional).
